Located off A1A, just minutes away from the quaint bars, restaurants, and beachy boutiques of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Plunge Beach Resort is the perfect laidback retreat right on the ocean.

We had the delightful opportunity to spend a few days at this peaceful mid-century getaway.

Here’s a taste of what to expect

Check in was friendly and efficient, and before we knew it, we had

settled into our airy Oceanfront King room.  I highly recommend reserving an oceanfront room as the view does not disappoint.  Once we unpacked, we head down to the lobby where we were greeted by Director of Guest Excellence, Joe Imbrogno, who graciously gave us a tour of the property.

Plunge Beach Resort has 163 rooms and one- and two-bedroom suites, plus three onsite dining options, two pools, a fitness center, lots of beach amenities, and some fun monthly programming.

The hotel also recently launched a Bungalow Buyout program featuring 26 ocean front suites with spacious rooms and outstanding amenities for an average rate of $199 per room + tax which included your own private pool and private beach access.

After our tour, we couldn’t wait to take a dip in the ocean and soak up the sun poolside with a cocktail in-hand.

Speaking of cocktails, the resort had set up a cocktail demonstration for us just before dinner, that the resort’s Director of Food & Beverage, Nestor Marchand, assisted with, followed by dinner at Backflip Beach Bar.

Backflip is a hidden gem and a true toes-in-the-sand beach bar with the best views. We were taken away by the the ocean breeze and the gorgeous sunset over the water. We enjoyed honey garlic sriracha wings, a fresh ceviche, and the garlic shrimp tacos with our perfectly paired tropical drinks.

We finished our evening with a stroll on the beach that took us to the fishing pier for some live music, ice cream and window shopping.

The next morning, it was breakfast at Bean & Barnacle, Plunge Beach Resort’s on property grab-and-go café, before we hit the beach for another incredible ocean filled day. Bean & Barnacle serves fresh brewed in-house coffee, pastries, and an assortment of breakfast sandwiches. You can even plan on getting a few to-go options with you for lunch on the beach.

This charming boutique hotel is a favorite with vacationers and locals alike and are known for their fun events. On Saturdays the hotel used to hosts a BBQ Beach Bash, and every third Sunday was Tails and Tini’s night, where guests and their fur babies enjoyed martinis and treats. There’s also beach yoga and don’t miss their expansive lobby/event space– filled with local art, an initiative that supports local artists as well as encourages the community to learn about the Fort Lauderdale’s art scene.

Thank you to The Plunge Beach Resort for being such gracious hosts. We had a fabulous time!
